PACKSADDLE TRAIL:16 MILES NORTH OF KERNVILLE ON MTN 99
So lately i have been spending a lot of money and decided that i just wanted to do a cheap trip and get out of town. My girlfriend and i decided to go to kernville for the weekend and do some hiking. We hit the trail around 8:10am Sunday morning and started our steep climb, the trail is very vertical for 1 mile and then it starts to flatten out towards the top.
Then we took the gradual descent towards the creek that was flowing through the mountains, where we found a great spot to take a break and have some lunch.
After lunch we started to follow the trail that lead us right along the creek, where it slowly started to incline.
With the directions that i had i could tell that we were getting close to our destination, which was the packsaddle cave.
The sign was also very helpful, once we had reached this point i knew that the cave was only 100 yards away, up yet another steep incline.
Once we entered the cave it was a lot larger than i had pictured it would be from the description i was given. We were only able to explore so far because of the small flashlights that we had brought with us, but we went in much deeper than expected.
Many of the stalgmites were stolen and lots of the walls were covered with grafatti, but other than that the cave was amazing.
