how is it still starting?

The other morning i couldn't get started so i unplugged my NSS and jumped the terminals to make it think it was in park then unjumped them and drove to work. After work i forgot and got in and started it.... started no problem even without jumping

how is it starting with the switch unplugged and with no connectivity shouldn't the comp think it is in drive

Hallo. I think that's the only possiblity.
If the NSS is disconnected, the starter relay has to find an other ground path to activate. I think it is doing that by the brn/yel wire from the #86 pin to the engine controls system.
There are 2 wires from the # 86 pin. one is going to the NSS and the other is going to the ECU.
When the starter relay is activated, the #30 and # 87 is switched, so the starter solenoid clicks/swichs and the starter motor will run.
