The only thing that is a direct swap would be a TJ/Rubicon D44(but no locking hubs).
Do a search, plenty of info on other swaps!

well yeah then either get a jeep 2500 front axle or a rubicon one but then you need to wire up the gay electronics for the locker, id get a waggy 44 with nice hubs and everything then get some chromo axles, a aussie, and some gears

if your thinking your trucks gonna look ugly with axles in it..i think u should worry about more things then just picking one. people dont pick axles on looks its strength, a waggy 44 with nice 30 spline shafts and the 8.8 with the same and lockers would be ruthless.

Ya, but the front 44s in the SA Cherokees are pretty rare to find.

Jeep 2500 front axle? The Chineese XJ? Do they even have D44 fronts? And by the time you got it here, with shipping and everything, you could build a front 44 a lot better than that one.

Why does South America get the sweet D44 front diff and all we get is the adequate D30? You'd think they'd huild it cheaper if anything for use in a 3rd world continent. Maybe the SA XJs are known to face a life of jungle forays and muddy bog crossings and were upgraded thusly.

BTW, anyone have a link to pics of a SA XJ?

TJ Rubicon would likely be the easiest swap. Bolt right in, same width. You could always pull the locker and sell it to get an OX like you want. Or look into the new Dynatrac Pro Rock 44. You choose the gears and locker, it was meant for TJs and JKs, so again should be easy to put in. Probably expensive though. Or find a 44 from a full size or Wagoneer and have it narrowed.

Taxes, actually. With a dana 44 front, it became a work truck and was like 1/3 of the cost.

nick i'd say run the 30. a waggy 44 is only moderately stronger than a hp 30. when/if its time to upgrade from the 30 move straight to a 60. you'll save yourself the trouble of wasting time and money on a 44 for limited strength gains

Just know you have to build the hell out of the unibody to handle the weight of the 60 look on pirate for unibody cracking because of the 60's and have fun...
