So here's the deal. After a nice trip down to Baja the gas mileage of 10-12 MPG was extremely irritating and I had enough. So after much scouring of the internet the two most common problems were the EGR and PCV valve. So, I decided to start with the PCV valve by taking off the valve cover and scrubbing it down. While I was doing this I decided, hey I'll bore out the throttle body a bit and smooth out the air flow. So after scrubbing down the valve cover and clearing up the hoses with brake cleaner, I bored out the throttle body and cleaned off the IAC with some brake cleaner. I used my air compressor to blow out all the shavings and rinsed it off with some WD-40 (I ran out of brake cleaner.) I disconnected the battery and grounded the positive terminal and turned the car on without starting so it would clear the computer. Now it starts better then it did but idles horribly and is spewing out black smoke (which reeks of gas) like you wouldn't believe. I am at a loss; any help would be greatly appreciated and is much needed.

Try driving it for a 1/2 hour or so. The CPU needs to relearn all the engine perameters.

If that doesn't work post up again. I'm sure some of the gurus here will be better than I to help you after that....

What year is it? What size engine?

IIRC, this is a renix rig?

There would be no learning sequence.

My friends renix did this exact same thing. It was the line to the MAP sensor broken. Check it and I bet its broken or unplugged somewhere.

My 91' has a bored throttle body and it runs real strong. It does hesitate a little at take off but other than that it's fine..are you running the stock intake on it??

Okay so I will need to replace the MAP but for now I have it taped up and that cleared up the black smoke, now onto the next project...

Ideas on how to fix an A/C?

Basically I've owned this thing for about four years now and the A/C never has worked. The previous owner thought that he was a genius electrician and killed everything but I'm worried that A/C isn't just an electrical problem because after running it for a bit it seems cooler then vent... ideas for sealants? or to test for leaks?

dont get that a/c in a can b.s. im so tired of customers saying oh but this stuff i put in has a leak sealer but it still leaked. do it right the first time and have it fixed by a shop that does a/c the right way
