I think i read somewhere that if you remove the rear driveshaft from a (new) style np242 transfercase that all the oil drians out...is this true?

i need to change my rear u-joint tonight

please let me know if you know

thanks guys

Not if you have a 96+ t-case.

even if the transfercase fluid did come out, all you would need to is cover the output housing with a plastic bottle or bag.

basically is a none issue now matter what year transfercase you have.
