Can I remove this stupid thing?

I have a bit of work ahead of me the next week. I'll be replacing the rear main along with the oil pan gasket and exhaust gasket (I forgot to re-torque after putting in a header and ruined it!) I've done the 99+ intake install, and was going to route my belt in the same fashion, however this stupid thing got in the way! It looks like it's on the timing cover? Can I put in a new timing cover from a later year and get rid of it? As is, it has my power steering pulley crooked and makes my belt sqeak every six months...

hmm, uhhh what are you talking about? - that little thing that is sticking out above your harmonic balancer?

Yeah, sorry I wasn't clear about it. Yes, the little timing notch thingy that obstructs the path of a new route.

If you're trying to show us what I think you're trying to show us, I've seen several rigs have that ground down a bit to clear the timing belt after a late model intake swap..
