heat shield

ok look at this.

that is the lovely spot i get to learn to weld and do it ther but after im done fixing this hole, what type of paint should i use on it and I would like to put some sort of heat shield. anyone got a idea of what i could use?

Kinda hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like thats right about your muffler, right?

For paint, Id use a really high temp paint. Like the hi-temp engine paint or something.

As far as a heat shield, Id strongly recommend the factory 97+ ones. You can get them at the dealership for about 30 bucks. Put one on my rig and it made a HUGE difference. Really easy to install too.

Yeah i'd definetly go with a ceramic engine paint, a factory heat shield, and maybe some "Dynashield" as well.

I use "airbake" brand cookie sheets as heat shields. You get a two pack cheap at target ($16 or so), one for the muffler, one for the cat.

There is nothing better. Attached it with self tapping screws into the body.
