Cruise accelerating

When I put the cruise control on, it won't stay at a stable speed, its always accelerating ?? Changed the tps but doesn't changed anything. What it could be ??

Hopefully a stuck or broken button on your cruise control control (steering wheel switch). Could also be wiring or clockspring issue, so hope for the button.

no clockspring on an 88.

check the vacumn line and diaphram for the cruise control.

dont know if the tps would have an affect on the cruise control, but did you adjust it to spec?

1990 ESM says if the vehicle continues to accellerate after the set button is released either the Servo or control module is defective. The fix is to replace either one.

you can try to adjust the centering on the cruise module. you need to do that while driving with the cruise on. carefully.
