tranny cooling line leaking at radiator

91, 4.0, aw4 tranny

Well the cooloing line is leaking at the radiator end of the line. Can I replace just the cupling or will it reguire a whole new line?

Depends what's gone bad. Have you tried snugging up the fitting?

No I havn't touched it yet, but it is literally hemoraging fluid. I was goign to try tightening it, not sure if wrapping teflon tape is a good idea or not. If tightening doesn't fix it it is the fitting. But if I can replace the fitting that would be easier to do than new lines. Unless it would be smart to replace the lines...

IIRC, the lines are flare fittings and the cooler is tapered pipe fittings. With the adapter in between. Teflon tape helps on a pipe fitting, but does no good on a flare fitting. The lines themselves are usually pretty solid. Try just snugging up a little more to see if that fixes it.

Hallo Jeepers. I replaced mine with rubberhose and clamps.
The pressure is't high, but use ATF resistant hose.
I ran mine already for 6 years now and no leaks or other problems. :spin1:

When I use a rubber hose and clamps for tranny lines, I put a very small flare in the end of the tube for insurance that the hose won't come off.
