Just as stated...can anyone advise if the front bumper on a pre 1997 cherokee sport (and bumper to frame mounts ) bolt up to a 2000..un-modified ?

use the search feature i remember seeing a post like this where somebody had done it and it looked OK.

It will bolt right up as long as you get the brackets as well as the bumper. Your 2000 brackets will not fit a pre 97 bumper.

X2 on the brackets...the 97-01 brackets won't work with the pre 97 bumpers.
Also, if you plan on using the plastic end caps...they may not fit as well with a pre 97 bumper...
