well I have a 99 cherokee that just feels the need to piss water all over the passenger side footwell. I tore apart the whole passenger side front to see if there was sumthing obvious, but of course there wasnt. the water is right by the seat track and not up by the heater core so I dont kno what to look for. Are these common problems on these crappy chrysler products?

Has it been in the rain or snow? I ask because mine had the same problem and it was the windshield and the weather strip around the door.

I had an 04 wj that would do the same. It was do to too much condensation in the heater box from running the a/c. check the drain on the firewall and make sure it is clear. Also have your a/c inspected to be sure it is functioning properly.

yeh its water cuz i put my hand in it and its clear, i hav 50/50 mix in there so i would know if it was green, i didnt check under the carpet cuz i didnt want to take the seat and crap out but looks lik i have to and yeh it does it when it rain. when i checked it b4, i took everything apart and had sum1 hose down the side with high water pressure and i got no leaks, this is the second time this has happened this week.

i have this same problem in my 00
try removing the plenum grill, pull the wiper arms off first. If you have alot of trees over your parking space...

There may be a mess of leaves and rotten stuff in the bottom of the plenum. It raises the water level above the condestate drain, causes it to flow back into the jeep.

Don't know if you checked it or not yet, but mine was taking in water on the passenger footwell side and I finally tracked it down to the little rubber hose that comes from the bottom of the blower motor. Have a look for it on the passenger side firewall, you should see the blower motor there and a hose at the bottom. Feel if it's tight. You may need to pop it out and silicone it back into place...water builds up on the firewall right there and the blower motor basically sucks it up and blows it all over the place on the passenger side if that hose has worked it's way loose. I know you said it's not coming from the blower motor area, but it's something to check anyways.

That's fixed my renix-era "piece of crap", so I don't know if it'll work on your chrysler "piece of crap" since there were a few changes over the years.

This type of water leak seems to be a common problem on later model XJ's...here's what I did to fix it on my '98.

The first culprit I suspected was the plastic air intake that located under the windshield cowl. You have to remove your wipers, and remove the cowl cover. The intake is underneath some sheetmetal, that obviously prevents water from pouring straight in. I cut the sheet metal away just above the intake. Once I had a hole large enough for my hand to fit in, I simply applied some sealant around the plastic cowl intake, where the foam seal is to seal it off. I then used some plastic sheet to make a "patch" over the hole I cut in the sheet metal. Seal it up with silicon, and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately, this wasn't the cause of my leak, but it was good preventative maintenance since I figured the foam seal around the cowl intake won't hold up over time much longer.

This led me to then next possible area for leak, and that one being the foam seal where the blower pokes through the firewall on the passenger side. Pop your hood an take a look at where I mean.....that is an easier fix. You might have to move some piece of emmissions equipment that sort of blocks your access to the foam sealed area, but its only a couple of bolts, and you can lay it aside. Once you have clear access to the blower seal, just apply some silicon all around where the blower meets the fire wall to seal it up, and seal up the foam really well.

Also, there is a wire loom that runs along the fire wall above the blower, that splits off towards the fender, and then runs down towards the engine. In my case, water was dripping off that wire loom and dripping straight into the blower area. That was the source of my leak. Take a look at yours, I bet it's doing the same thing. Just zip tie that wire loom aside, so that it no longer overhangs above the blower.

I haven't had a leak since...
