Hello, My 97 has a touchy brake pedal that is causing 2 problems...
1) The cruise control wont stay engaged if I hit a bump or am on a rough road..
and
2) The torque converter will not stay locked up under the same circumstances. It will jump in and out of lock randomly.
I just found out today the problem is with the switch on the brakc pedal. I don't have to put any pressure on the brake for the brake lights to come on or for the cruise to disengage or the converter to unlock.
I put the lightest amount of pressure on the brake pedal and the above symptoms occur.
If I put my foot behind the brake pedal and pull up on it while driving all is well. The converter stays locked and the cruise works.
Just wondering if the switch is adjustable or if I need to just buy a new switch?
I already replaced the airbag clockspring thinking that was the issue so I don't want to but any more parts if needed.
Thanks!
