prep work for bedliners?

i plan to bedline my rockers on my 95 but i was wondering what is the bestway to prep a surface for bedliner? there is minimal rust in some areas and i was wondering how should i work with that. im kinda new to the bodywork stuff so it would be nice get a few good tips on it.

When I did rhino this is what we would do...
Tape it all off first. Sand all the edges with some sand paper. We used a nylon cup brush to "rough" the intire surface and take off any minor rust. If you take it to bare metal you may want to prime it. Clean it all up with ecetone and your gravy. Just make sure your tape is still stuck and make sure you get every loose piece of paint off.
