electric fan wont turn on

ok so i made it so my electric fan would turn on at any time then awhile back it shorted out and burnt all the insolation off of the one wire that went to the battery. so i took all of the wiring from that fan switch and removed it. now my fan wont turn on at the specific temp. i jumped the fan straight to the battery and it works but now i dont know what i should try next
