The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor it tells the computer how wide open the throttle is so it can know how much fuel to put in the engine. The Crank Position Sensor tells the computer exactly where the crank shaft is in its rotation helps the computer make its calculations on timing and other various figures. The computer for the engine is quite an amazing thing if you really sit down and examine what all it looks after. First thing that would help a lot of us out in answering your questions and helping you solve your problem is what year is your jeep, what motor does it have, automatic or manual transmission, and is it 4x4 or 2wd? Pretty much the basic information that you should give each time you post a problem like this. Not hating at all man since your a newb we all get the lecture some are mean about it and some are understanding like me. But one thing I had happen on my 97 is my temp. sensor went bad and it was giving me all kinds of hell like dieing in the middle of traffic, not always starting without having to give it some gas, high idle after initial start-up, just a whole bunch of crazy things that got cleared up once I replaced it. Not saying this is your problem but if your temp gauge isn't showing a reading its worth checking and replacing if necessary. But give us some of your vehicle info and we will be able to help you out better. The TPS is also a big problem causer as well as the CPS so either one of those could be it and I have had to replace both on my 97.
