297 or 760?

Which is the preferred joint, whats the difference?, I have been running spicer 297's .

These direct-replacement U-joints are the same great U-joints that came from the factory from 2002 and up. The 760x Series replaced the old style 297x with a forged cross shaft and new bearing cap design with larger trunions. These improvments result in nearly a 30% strength increase.

So I should upgrade to the 760x joints then.

In truth, it won't do much good to upgrade to 760 joints if you don't also upgrade the shafts to alloy.

One of the reasons shafts fail is not the U-joint breaking, but the cap being spit out because the ear deformed and it all going down hill from there.

BTW: This is a Stocky Forum. Stockys don't have anything but normal wear issues with u-joints because they never leave the street ;)
