85-86 XJ trannys?

I now have an 86 2.8L XJ & an 85 2.5L XJ; both leak transmission fluid horribly & need new seal kits. How do I tell whether they have the 727 or 904 transmissions? (so I can order the parts before I pull the transmissions)

I can almost guarantee you it's the "Baby 904" - but slushboxes are easy to identify. Draw - or take a picture of - the sump pan, and then look up the A77 and A904 online (the A904 and Baby 904 use the same sump pan.) Slushboxes can invariably be identified by the shape of the oil sump.
