92 4ltr cherokee idle stall ac compressor on

I have a 92 cherokee sport 4ltr. Idles fine with vent,heat positions of heat/ac controll,but will stall at idle with any ac or defrost position.I unpluged ac compressor with same results.fstetzer

I would test the battery and alternator. Also, old plugs and wires can cause things like that.

The PCM is supposed to kick the idle up at AC on to compensate for the compressor load. If it's kicking on the electric fan, that could be drawing too much juice or your battery could be low. Unplug the fan too, and see it it still happens. I guess I'd clean the Idle Air Control for lack of anything else, but that seems like a long shot.
