Picking up a D30/8.25

I wasn't sure where to put this so here we go...

So I think I am going to be picking up a D30 and 8.25 with 4.10's installed on monday.. What should I look out for when checking them out?

on the 30 i'd say make sure the tubes aren't bent

I just thought of something... Should I have him pull off the covers so I can see if the gears are chipped or anything?
