Help!!! ASAP

My gf has a newer xj 1999, the steering wheel has locked all the way to the right and wont go left...

Anyone know if the steering column lock pin could be bad, or do you think its the steering box? Pitman arm?

I was told to unbolt the shaft from the wheel to the steering box and see if it will turn by hand, if not then its the locking mechanism in the column...

has anyone ever experienced this?

any help, tips is greatly appreciated as it is her daily driver...

So the key turns, and you can start it, but the wheel won't move at all?

If you do this, only turn the wheel a little bit and then return it to the exact position you started at. You are risking throwing the clock spring out of alignment or even breaking it.
