When you guys cut out places for switches for lights and other things, what kind of tool do you use to do this? Specifically cutting into vinyl and plastics. I have always wanted to do this myself instead of taking it somewhere to have it done. Dremel?

Dremel for the plastics usually with the flex extension for the tight areas

dremel with a nice kit of accessories

i have the rechargable batterypowered one and its great for small quick stuff but the battery life for some projects is quite lacking

Dremel, razor blade, and files. I probably use the file more than the other two, especially on small openings where the file does most of the work.

Wow I must be the only cheap/ lazy guy here... I just use a drill bit. Always comes out nice, clean, and tight fitting.

Drill bit & a triangular file......
