I have a 95 with an 8.25. I understand some have 27 splines and some 29. Is there any way to tell which I have without taking it apart?

You have the 27 spline, they taper down at the splines. Thet went to 29 spline in the middle of 96.

Thanks, I was thinking it was the middle of '95. It does seem to have posi traction at least. I'm not going bigger than 31's so I think I'll be OK anyway I hope!

with only 31s you'll be fine with the 27 spline
