Brake Upgrade for 01 Cherokee

Ok, the list of upgrades for cherokees include the vanco kit, teraflex rear, zj and wj rear conversions, better rotors and pads, and dual diaphram/booster. Main question is can I do the diaphram/booster to the 01 cherokee and will just as effective if you did it to the older cherokees?

Your 01 already has the dual diaphram booster that everyone speaks about. Jeep started installing those in 95 or 96, instead of the earlier single diaphram booster. If you are having troubles with your brakes, start with a good pad and rotor first. If you purely want to upgrade then I would say start with the WJ booster/master swap (bigger bore master) and then swap the rear to ZJ disc brakes with a ZJ prop valve.

If the above stated isn't enough thern you could do the WJ front brake upgrade. They come with dual piston calipers and crossover steering. I did it to mine and the braking power has dramatically increased.

Can you please post links for the best writeup's on doing the wj booster and zj rear disc setups.

you dont need the booster upgrade, you have a dual diaphram booster, you need the front wj brake upgrade and zj rear disc setup.

try to search, there are too many threads for me to list.

here is as thread right now about rear brake swap

I would go with rear disc first, then move to the booster / MC from a WJ.
The dual diaphragm unit in your XJ is better than what many older rigs came with - and not nearly as powerful as what the 99-04 Grands came with.
I put the WJ knuckle / brakes conversion as last because the cost of the parts, fabrication to get the steering / sway bars / coil buckets all to fit and work properly is a bit much for most of us. If you have the WJ booster & ZJ rear brakes with good pads all around and can't get enough, though, the dual piston calipers should be enough to arouse even the most frigid-hearted jeepers to full mechrection.
