Chevy motor question

I just picked up an 89laredo with a 87 L89 350 out of a corvette. The tranny is a 5spd nv4500. At 60 mph in 5th it sits at 1800rpm. Is that okay for a v8 to lug along like that? I know that once u hit a lower rpm there is a point where it takes more gas to move and more stress on the engine. What is that point? Or is it geared to tall? (355gears)(31inch tires)

Man, there are so many variables to that question. It all depends on how the motor was built, lift, ect. The 3.55 with 31's sounds sufficient though.

it will be fine. Chevy used the t56 in new corvettes and camaros. in 6th gear you run about that on the hwy and get 26mpg. Just for the record, you do not need to post the same question in multiple forums.
