temp idiot light always on

I've got an 89 MJ 4.0.

My temp idiot light is always on from when I first start the jeep up. I replaced the temp sender hoping that would solve the problem but it didn't.

I was planning on taking the console off and cleaning contacts, etc, as the "part time" light is also on though I have no part time 4wd. Is there any other mechanism involved between the temp sender and the console?

Thanks in advance, geniuses

I recently added grounds and cleaned the connections in the engine compartment.

the idiot light should be a single wire circuit that is grounded (hence the light on) at the sending unit. If the lamp is always on, then I would think that you've got a short to ground in the circuit going to the unit. Follow the wire back from the sending unit (assuming it's the correct one) and you should find where it's contacting the chassis without insulation.
