I have a '98 XJ with the D30 and 8.25. I'm not sure of the current stock ratio and how to find that out. Or if I'll need to change the carriers. Your input would be greatly appreciated. THX

Do I need to change carriers when going to 4:56's??

With a 4.0, stock ratio is 3.07(manual) or 3.55(automatic). To go to 4.56, the rear is ok, the front needs a new carrier.
'Carrier break for D-30 is 3.73, the 8.25 has no carrier break.
Edit: For clarity, and to kill off nit pickers, there is a carrier break for the 8.25. Its around 2.73 or so, and doesn't affect the axles put in our XJs
