will an aw4 and 231 tcase from an 88 non HO xj fit on my 2wd 95 xj?

are you asking if the aw4 with the 231case attached will mate up to the 4.0 engine. than yes, all aw4 from an xj have the same bolt pattern to match up to the 4.0. you need to make sure the 95 engine has the right pilot bearing.

Also the spline count on the AW4 older trannies are 21 spline so count that bugger before you go insane.. Hal

He's using the trans & t/c as a unit so the spline count doesn't matter. What about the trans control box? Isn't that an issue with the early/late AW4s?

My 95 is fine I have mixed parts from an 1988 XJ and a 1995 XJ and cannot tell a difference?
