Header-to-"Y" pipe question...

I am getting ready to install a Banks header in my 00 XJ, and upon removing the factory exhaust manifolds, I noticed that the exhaust manifold to "Y" pipe connections didn't have any doughnut gaskets.

Pardon my ignorance, but is that normal? Does the flared end of the Y-pipe just have an interference fit to the cone end on the exhaust manifold?

Thanks for your time!

I put a Banks header on my '97 about 6 months ago, and I dont remember a doughnut in the stock manifold to downpipe connection. Pretty sure the flare on the y-pipe end provides the seal.

For my install I used the doughnut that came with the header and it seals great.
