ok so
1)how much can i expect to pay for an Xj front drive shaft for a '99 XJ
2)I hear grinding in the front when i brake or slow down
3)sometimes the rig will not come out of four wheel drive. the light on the dash turns off but its still in four wheel.

any help would be great

(1)$50 to $125 (2) Brake pads & rotors (3)Back up fast, then go foward, Is this a 231 or 242? It's been more of a problem with my 242 than my 231 but it's common to a lot of 4wds. Just my educated guess(s)

1- Varies depending on new/used. How about rebuilding yours?
2-Inspect and replace friction material (pads/rotors)
3-Be sure that your tire pressure is equal on all 4 wheels. If there is much of a variation, it can give you that exact symptom.
