Do door Handles from pre 96 fit on 97+

Will the door handles from a pre 96 XJ fit onto the doors of a 97+ XJ and still work? I broke the button out of the handle on the passengers side and I would like to get a replacement but the u-pull lot near me only has pre 96 XJ's and I don't want to pay $20 for a new one.

I have replaced the black door handles on my 98 with chrome handles from a 93/94 and it was a perfect replacement.
