The car died last week and it would turn over but never started since it died. I replaced it with a Duralast for Autozone and it started on the first shot after the installation. It was fine the first couple of times it ran it but now it wants to stall when I start it. Any I can get it to run if I give it the gas and runs fine after a couple of minutes. Any idea what the problem is?

Installed a new CPS and now it stalls.

Did these exact symptoms start EXACTLY after installing the new CPS? If so, common sense tells you to go back to it. You can get a bad sensor right out of the box; it does happen. However, the symptoms you mention don't really sound like the CPS so you by dumb luck, could have another problem that came up at the same time......What year XJ/what engine? Any check engine light?

Did you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes after installing the new sensor?
