1998 Cherokee 4.0, I have the oil pan off, replaced the rear main seal. There is a brace running the full length of the crankshaft that sits on top of the main caps. What do these nuts torque to on top of the main caps, not the main caps themselves, but the nuts for the brace on top of the main caps???? Much appreciated!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Dean

Check my site (link in sig) in the Tech section - I've got torque specs I've been accumulating from FSMs there. Any year 1996-up will serve.

However, I don't recall that there is a spec'd torque beyong "German torque" (gutentite) for those nuts. But, if there's a spec, it's there.

my 1996 FSM doesn't even mention the girdle so I used the AERA spec when I did the oil clearance checking on mine, its 35ft-lbs as well.
