Aux Switches (What? Not where!)

I'm bored and planning out future switch locations... there's enough threads about that! I just want to make sure I am not forgetting to leave room for anything.

Here's my list so far...
-Driving/fog lights
-Rock lights
-Reverse lights
-Electric fan override
-1st/2nd gear selector
-Torque converter lock
-Front ARB
-Rear ARB
-ARB Compressor

So... what have you added auxiliary switches for?

Billy

amp, electric fan, kc lights and strip lights on the dash

Currently have:

Hella 500s (used stock foglight switch though)
Extended Idle
E-fan override

Saving room for:

Rock lights
1st/2nd gear
TC lockup

besides whats been mentioned, heated seats

I've added probably over 20 switches for gadgets in my XJ. !6 in the overhead console and the rest are scattered around wherever i find the room. I'll list them all here. Starting with the roof, 4 rows of 4 switches, starting from the rear.

Row 1
1. Left Outer KC
2. Left Inner KC
3. Right Inner KC
4. Right Outer KC

Row 2
1. Left Overhead Flood
2. Overhead Backup lights
3. Driving Lights
4. Right Overhead Flood

Row 3
1. Electric fans
2. Blank Terminates under hood
3. Blank Terminates in the Right Rear behind plastic panel
4. On-board Shower override

Row 4
1. ARB compressor
2. Front ARB locker
3. Rear ARB locker
4. York OBA

I also have added the following
2 switches for the heated seats
1 for Heated mirrors,
In-cab Winch controls-one master and one in/out.
3 switches for Auxiliary Strobe flashers.
2 battery switches to turn each battery on/off via solenoid.
And a reset button for the On-board Windows XP based computer.

In addition the roof layout the rest of the switches either hid in the little cubby in front of the floor shifter, it's a panel now that includes the Raunchy RS9000 Shock controls and the heated seats. The rest found a home next the original stereo/hvac controls, where the clock used to be.

If anyone wants pics of how this is laid out let me know I'll be happy to get them.

20 or 30 switches wired just to 50 LED. With some fancy flip flop and latch wiring you can make it look like it's really doing something.
Beam me up Scotty.

-Reverse lights
So... what have you added auxiliary switches for?

Billy
Three position switch (or tandem switches) for the aux. reverse lights. This allows me to use them full auto, disable them completely, or turn them on manually.

I have 6 different rocker switches

-Hella 500's up front
-Corvette fogs up front
-Reverse lights in the rear
-(empty) Hella's up top
-(empty) Hella spots in rear
-(empty) Locker

All modulating into my fitchbox

Please post some pics, sounds very interesting :)

what i used to have

1 - ARB Compressor
2 - Rear ARB
3 - Front ARB
4 - Outer roof rack lights
5 - Inner roof rack lights
6 - Fog lights on bumper
7 - future expansion

but after i did a little "reworking" of the xj, i only have the fogs on the bumper left :p

Just a question. For those of you who have all of the extra lights, how often do you really use them? Do you do a lot of night off-roading?

I would like to add some lights to my front bumper, but don't expect to add much more than that at the moment. For a guy with just a few switches, any ideas on where to mount them? Of course everyone should use relays.

Thanks,

Man, I bet it is a royal clusterheck above that OHC, but with how clean it turned out, it's all worth it. Does your factory keyless still work or did you rip the module out?

Nicely done! Where did you mount your fitch box? I read the the thread on it and am going to build one. I just wonder if under the hood is a bit too hot? I like the idea of in the back cubby hole but that sure adds to the wire lengths.
