Winch cable question

I just got my first winch ever, and in setting it up I noticed that there is no thimble for the wire cable. Isn't it better to use one to prevent the wire from bending too sharply around the hook's pin?

It's a Smittybilt XRC8, by the way. Seemingly a very nice winch.
Thanks for any advice or help.

My smitybuilt, and everyone I have ever seen has a thimble on the steel cable. Are you sure yours doesnt? how does it attach to the hook?

I'm positive--the tag and working ends of the cable are just crimped together. Simply putting the hook on the bare cable is their intention. I have a wire rope thimble and cable clamp to put on, but I didn't know if I should bother or not.
This isn't my picture, but this is how mine came.

I think I'll just throw the thimble and wire clip on to keep it from getting too sharply bent at the hook. Thanks for the replies.
