Speakers don't work

I've a '96 Sport with the OEM radio.
I am almost done with my belly pan rust repair project, and all of sudden when I tried to use the radio, the head unit display lights up and tunes, but absolutely no sound comes from any of the speakers?
The vehicle has been unregistered for 2 months, so I haven't driven it anywhere.
The radio worked just fine before the rust repair.
Are the speakers fused seperately from the head unit?
The windows and locks work OK, and no other electrical problems that I know of.
Any Ideas where to start debugging this problem?

I'd try a different station..........

But seriously, if you've done floor repair, I would think you've been using a welder? You
may have possibly gotten some weld splatter in the harness which runs the floor length
on the drivers side, simply check for burn marks......wires could be fused together.

or you could buy a new head unit from best buy and hav them install it. make sure you get one of those discounted ones that someone has returned. if it still doesnt work they'll have to fix it.
