Body panel removal?

How do you take the vent looking piece off the rear of a 2 door. The one at the rear window? I am going to be painting my Jeep and just want to pull it off. Also there is a vent looking thing on the bottom in front of the fenders what is this and how does it come off?

that vent looking piece as you call it by the rear window is attacked by nuts on the inside of the jeep. At least on my 89 it was
not sure what the other part is that you are trying to describe is.

Yeah the other part you can't see in any of the pics I have. I want to pull them off for paint.
