In the world of the sound bite.

This is not an endorsement of either camp. I just feel like too many people latch on to these sound bites and run with them, in whatever direction their party tells them to.

"My Muslim faith"
Yeah, he said it. Watch the longer vid to see the remark in context. He was acknowledging that McCain himself had not attacked him for being a Muslim. If the interviewer hadn't interrupted him, it may have been more clear. I didn't see it as a profession of his "Muslim faith". Not saying that it ain't so either.

"Above my paygrade"
As I saw it, he was saying that he has no power over another person's moral convictions regarding abortion. Sounds like the conservative end of the pro-choice debate. Something like, I'm against abortion personally, but I still believe that it is a matter of personal choice (my words not his). Sounds like he believes it is an issue between an individual and his/her maker/morals; not the government. Therefore it is above his paygrade.

"Too inexperienced"
This one applies to Obama and Palin. I don't think either party has a leg to stand on here. Look at our recent Presidents.

Reagan: Actor. Joined Army and, wait for it, acted. SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Pres./V.P. Worked for Barry Goldwater's campaign. Failed to gain GOP nomination over Ford in 1976. Two term President.

Bush Sr.: Postponed enrollment @ Yale to fight in WWII. Ran some oil companies. Served in the House of Representatives. Served as Ambassador to the U.N. Served as Envoy to China. Served as Director of the CIA. One term President

Clinton: Partied through college. Dodged draft. Worked on George McGovern's campaign. Governer of AR. Two term President.

Bush Jr.:
Stumbled through college. Almost got the boot from ANG. Ran some oil companies. Owned a piece of a baseball team. Worked on Daddy's campaign. Governer of TX. Two term President.

Strange how the only guy with any real experience only lasted one term in office.

Again, I'm not an Obama fan. I'm not a real McCain fan either. Might have to write in Jesse Ventura.

I prefer a non-politician for President.

Someone with some good business savvy and negotiation skills. Someone with a spine that will stand up to the Socialist/Marxist movement that is corrupting our government and brainwashing the minds of our citizens. Someone who cares more about our freedoms and liberty than appeasing the special interests and lobbyists. Someone who admits when they make a mistake and can learn from it. Someone who believes that the disregard and removal of God from our society will ultimately lead to the end of our society. Someone who believes in a honest days work for an honest days pay. Someone who expects every able-bodied man and woman to stand on their own two feet and take responsibilty for themselves and their families. Someone who will squash the attitide of entitlement that is perpetuating our society. Someone who believes that life begins at conception and should be protected. Someone who believes that the USA should be capable of sustaining itself and the needs of it's people.

I know, I have fairly low expectations...........:patriot:

I was going to say Mutt Romney, but you may be right...the more I read about Ron Paul, the more I am starting to think he's the least political politician (is that possible?) out there.

By '9-11 truther' do you mean to say that he thinks it was an inside job...or do you mean he questions the completeness of the investigation? ;)

Do YOU believe everything the government says? :dunno:

It would be stupid to believe everything the Government says.

It would also be stupid to believe the Alex Jones' of the world too. They are so deranged that they can't see the forest through the tree's.

The fact that he gives those type of People any credibility at all makes him a loser in my book.

I read a lot about him when he first came on the scene and really liked what he had to say. Then I saw him in a debate and knew he was seriously screwed in the head...good ideas or not.

Care to answer the first question? :)
Sorry,

I don't know if either of those two fit him exactly. He isn't stupid enough to say either.. or at least I haven't heard him directly come out and say he thinks that 9-11 was either an "inside job" or that he questions the government and their actions...although from other stuff I have heard him say I think he questions the government a lot...which is good.

It still goes back to the fact that he gives the real whackjobs a lot of credibility and that scares me.

I dunno, I thought he was a little crazy at first but the more I read about him the more I liked him....I dont agree with EVERYTHING he says, but for the most part, I think he has a lot of good ideas.

That's the beauty of a libertarian mentality. You do what works for YOU...and you don't speak for everyone else. "Pro-choice on everything" is the basis for that system.

And yeah Ryan, I've only ever heard Dr. Paul say that he thinks an independent investigation should be done...and that he personally considers the government investigation into 9-11 as relatively inconclusive. Is there more to the story? Who knows? That's just it... Not saying anything about an inside job...but someone could be covering their ass or collective asses.

You forgot two term governer of California.

My bad. Spaced that part. Meant to get that in there. For a bunch of guys with no "experience", ex-Governers sure seem to spend a lot of time in the White House.

Governors have lots of experience. They write and manage budgets. They manage tax policy, medicare, unenmployment, education, and lots of other federal programs that are funded nationally but implemented locally. They engage in international negotiations by trying to bring investment to their state. They are commanders in chief of the National Guard forces for their state. etc.
