Lets this call this a Renix Manifold Air Temperature sensor FAQ. MAT is also sometimes called IAT and ACT sensor.

"The MAT sensor reacts to the temperature of the air in the intake manifold and provides an input to the ECU to allow it to compensate for air density changes during high temperature operation."
Autozone calls it an "AIR CHARGE" AC Sensor in their parts database and MAT in their repair guide, such fun, making it seem to be a non available part that they actualy stock! The real problem is they use different nomenclature in the two databases. Other parts houses probably have the same problem.
