760 -> 442

Anybody know if this effects cell phones? I don't even live in 760 anymore, but cell phone is still 760. I got a text message from AT&T about it. Not sure if that's cuz my cell phone is gonna change, or if it's they think I have a land line in the 760.

I had no idea it was gonna even happen. The text message about the public hearing coming up regarding the petition to not do it.

I remember when my grandma's phone number had letters AND numbers, all of OC was 714, all of LA was 213 and all of San Diego was 619 (even out to Blythe) haha

before san diego was 619 is was 714. My house is 50 years old and I have one phone recessed into the hallway wall that still has 714 on it. My home phone # is that old. then it changed to 619, then 760. My mother lives in Bodfish/lake isabella and is 760 as well. So I have to dial 1-760 to call my mom from a landline. (celly does it for me)

I can remember when Isabella was still 619. A lot of the old folks up there were fighting that change. Where's she at in Bodfish, I've got family up in Wofford Heights.

You can check here to see if your prefix (the 3 numbers after your area code) is slated to change to the new area code: http://www.keep760.org/affectednumbers.html

It also says cell phones are included (According to the guys who are against it)

I remember when my house in Torrance became 310.

I also remember the mountain being in 714.
