I am going to change my gears out on my Dana 30 I just ordered a Dana 44 with 4.56 gears and was wondering what type of gears I want for my Dana 30 in the front. Do I want reverse cut ring and pinion or not.

Take a look at the axle. If where the driveshaft goes into the axle is above the centerline of the tubes, then you have a high pinion axle (reverse cut). If the driveshaft is towards the bottom, and is below the centerline, then you have a low pinion.

OK...heres the deal. It's not what gears you WANT, it's what you NEED. You can't just put high-pinion gears into a low-pinion diff. Just thought that needed to be said...since previous posts didn't make it clear.

You need the short pinion gears used in TJ's!
