Distributor hold down broke

i noticed awhile back that the distributor hold down had a crack in it. Today on my way to lunch I went to pass someone and POP! :hang: the motor shut down. I jumped out and the dizzy broke away from the mounting bracket and came up outta the motor about an inch. I ordered a new one. I was wondering if it could have caused any more damage? The gear on the dizzy wasn't damaged or scarred. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I would think that if the distributor gear is ok that the cam is ok too.

No there shouldn't be any damage, the helical cut of the gears popped it out of there after the hold down broke. You coulda got one of those at the JY.

Just make sure you index the dizzy correctly when you drop it in(do a search, you will find plenty of threads on here) and all will be well.
