Undercoating on upside

Has anybody used undercoating material on the outside or on their bumpers? I have been told that 3M makes a great undercoating material. But I like to hear from somebody else. Any deterioration from uv, peeling, chipping, anything adverse?
 
become a naxja member so you can search, and when you do, search bedliner and/or herculiner and you'll get some feedback, and then some.
 
I've got Herculiner on the lower exterior of my XJ:

It's been holding up great. I wouldn't put it on a bumper though.

1) You don't have to be a member to search.
