Porch Puppy......

Jump This

Just another minion!
No...not THAT Porch Puppy
:D

This was the weekend project up in BB.

We started with a 4X4 covered porch....

And ended up with a 8X18 model!

I had never built a porch before, so some of the project was hit and miss, but I think it would survive a hurricane!
There is still some finish work to do, some trim along the flashing and some stain/sealer, but for a one trip wonder, I think we are happy with it.

Anyone need a weekend get-a-way in the mountains?

:D

Damn Rick. Really nice! Good work.

Looks great Rick! That steep slope on the original was for snow run-off......

If you need anyone to go up and check on things one weekend, let me know....

NIcw work bud. Im looking forward to getting back up there soon.

Ever think about those dates we spoke of last week?

I had some concerns regarding snow build up. I wanted more pitch, but needed to be able to secure the header along the second floor joists.
I took a look at what some of the neighbors had done and some of them were using flat roofs...

:dunno:

It should be able to handle a lot of snow build up, but I guess I won't know until.....

:D

I used 5 1/2" lag bolts along the header as well as on the post supports.
I'd bet it will hold!

i would have just duct taped it to that tree instead of wasting all that time with the pillars. but to each his own...

:D

I am sure you will be fine, especially if you consider how much snow they did not get last year...

It does look great! Change the look of the house a ton!
