I am still looking for an FSM. Does anyone know where I can get one for cheaper, or are the $100+ ones about it?

Year?

You can find new ones for the last 10-15 years at Tech Authority - expect the $100 bill.

Used? Check eBay - you can usually score some good stuff there with a little looking (I've got FSMs going back to 1960 or so, so far. Not all of them, but some...)

You can also find reprints of the older stuff, if you do a little looking. Books4Cars is coming to mind for some odd reason (www.books4cars.com) - so Google around and see what you can come up with.

But, it's important that you know what year you're after (and if you need anything reasonably specific, hit me backchannel and I'll see what I can do offhand. Probably a bit quicker response...)

If you look around the internet, you can find just about anything you need hosted on a server somewhere... just look very thoroughly, the stuff is never right in front of you or easy to find if it's copywritten info. Don't expect the free hosted stuff to be 100% EXACT and it will probably not be the most "up to date" but it works 9 times out of 10.

I googled for about 15 minutes, using various terms to find the 1995 FSM. I downloaded it and voila, after a little Acrobat magic have the full FSM in one doc, searchable and all! What year are you looking for? I think you can consult the Google and find it - if not, and you have a 95, I can maybe post mine somewhere. Let me know!

Do *NOT* post it here, or link to it.

Thanks guys, I have been looking online for one for my 1989 but all I can find are the $100+.

Not that I have a problem paying that much, I would just like to save some money if at possible.

Try eBay - in 1989, they were printed by ChryCo. I have a 1988 scanned (but it's AMC, some of the wiring will be different) and my 1990 isn't scanned yet (functionally identical to 1989.)

Or, try that Books4Cars outfit - I'm fairly sure they do reprints, they're legal, and they're a bit less than OEM...

Here's what I found in the space of about two minutes...

Enjoy! It's still not significantly under the $100 mark, but it's manuals, and the ones from Books4Cars should be new.

Edit - I forgot. Mechanically, they're pretty much the same 1987-1996. It's the electrical goodies that will get you by being different - you can grab the 1989 electrical manual, supplement it with a Chilton's or a 1987-1996 mechanical FSM, and call it good. Unless you have the D44 - you putz - you'll find everything in the later FSMs as well. Just keep it within the same body style - that's why the break for 1996/1997. 1984-1986 should be similar to 1987-1996 anyhow.
