Thanks to Rich, I was able to get the front bumper Tony gave me on my jeep. He went WAY further than just welding it. He shaped some brackets and make it look nicer than my jeep. haha Rich has been a great addition to NAXJA and especially the SOCAL Chapter.

anyway....THANKS RICH AND TONY!!!!!

So.....what you are saying is..........(let me do the math here....)
We have, what? 200-300 SoCal Chapter members, say 2500 total active members right?

Lets see, add the four, carry the two, devide by beer consumned.
I get (by your math) five people like Rich in NAXJA....

I'M GLAD I'M NOT LIKE RICH!!

You did?

Just so everyone is clear. this was NOT meant as an attack on ANYONE. I was merely pointing out how great Rich has been with our group and he has gone way further than ever needed in the short time he has been here. Please relax and don't read into EVERY god damn post as negative.....this was actually meant to show how great (ABOVE AND BEYOND) Rich has gone.......THATS ALL!!!!!! I thought I made that clear by saying "for every 500...join" If I was attacking someone I would have used every 4 or something.

Well, I tried to change it.

I do not think it appropriate. Any new memer or potential member may not know Andy or understand and get offended. Not to mention, there is profanity.

I know folks will get upset with my reply but I don't care. I did not go and delete the thread. :kissyou:

WTF if everyone's problem? Andy, sorry to jump this thread. I simply stated that the title has the word asshats in it and it does not portray a positive thread, though everything in the thread was positive and what this place used to be about. now folks have smarta$$ comments and questions. I am tired of crap blowing up over everything.

The rules will be posted in a couple of days. They are not new, they have been a part of NAXJA for years, just nto enforced. It saddens me that this even has to happen, but apparently it does.

cracker
August 10th, 2008, 22:04
There is no censorship that will prevent ANYONE from stating a point of view, as long as a few simple rules are followed:

If you become irritated a particular post, thread, or author, DON'T RESPOND!!
Aside from the posting of up coming events, club business does not take place on the public forums. PERIOD!
NO PERSONAL ATTACKS! There is going to be ribbing and teasing among friends, but when posts turn into personal attacks THEY'RE DELETED AT THE ADMINISTRATORS DISCRETION!!
Open, and sometimes heated debate will be allowed on the Non Tech Forum, but we will NOT ALLOW debate to escalate into a flame war. Again, judgment is at the discretion of the admin.
Out of courtesy to the majority, we will try to keep the boards "on subject". Occasionally posts will accidentally be made on the wrong board. When we CHOOSE to move an inadvertently posted message, a notice of this will be left.
Posts containing profanity, for the sake of profanity will be DELETED! Everything will be considered within the context of the given situation. Again, judgment is at the discretion of the admin., and the guidelines determined by consensus of the NAXJA Board of Directors

http://www.naxja.org/html/forums_code_of_conduct.htm

These are our code of conduct. I don't see any thing that counld have been violated to warrant sensorhip.

Asshat is not profanity. The word is used as a substitue of profanity. ;)

But are being enforced now?

If they have been part of NAXJA for years, why are they ABOUT to be posted? I'm confused.

cracker
August 10th, 2008, 22:10
Remi, I hate threads being moved. My view is that if they aren't blatantly in the wrong place they should stay where they are. Additionally, the chapter forums belong to the chapters. National has little, if anything, to say about what you all decide to allow. If you all don't want ANY tech discussed, then it's up to you. If you all think it is sometimes beneficial to talk tech, or wanted, or for sale, with the local folks it is up to you all...........no rules apply other than what you all want. This is your forum, provided to you by the national website. You moderate your own forum.

Looks like the chapter can do what it wants to me........

Also looks like this is not the first time........

(I am sorry Andy......nice bumper though)

Thanks for posting this. You may be right about that word, BUT, there is a statement at the end of many of those "laws" that it is at "ADMINISTRATORS DISCRETION!!"

I am not being a jerk, but folks can and have been offended by this statement. I don't many folks that liked being called and a$$hat.

Ok, you still haven't answered my quetsion. I"m really curious: cause looking at those two pages it's a bit confusin. Front page says about rules being adopted in 2004 but has a copyright of 2003. So... to satisfy my curiousity, which one is which?

Since this has been coming up over and over, I think people have a need to know generally what I said to you. I say this, because every time one of these threads explodes, I get PM's, text messages, IM's, e-mails and sometimes a couple of phone calls. I don't know if people expect me to blow up at it, fuel the fire, or have some words of wisdom, but now they can all know where I stand.

For some period now, Robert has appeared to be vacent from our chapter. He may or may not have been, that really isn't the point. For a long time, "anything goes" in socal was not so much a rule but was definatly the SOP. People get used this. Then, every few weeks/months/whatever, we go through a quick burst of sudden and what SEEMS to be aggressive moderation. Is it? Maybe, maybe not - but with the general lack of presence (or appearance of) it seems rash and harsh, while in reality it really hasn't been.

My problem is and has been that it appears to come out of nowhere. I have explained that to Robert, and I don't think he saw it in that light before. It took about 10 pages of PM's for us to get on the same page, but we are there now.

I'm tired and rambling. I'm going to go drink a beer, browse the new porn in off_topic, and crash out.

You guys have a good night.

Semantics. Do you go by the Old Testament or the New?

Does it really matter? Do either of them give the right to the SoCal BOD to overmoderate/censor people? :confused1

Wouldn't that be a question for the national BOD? Which of course, you sit on. If you don't know, and I don't know (I, who sit next to you), why are you asking him?

None of that applies to his point, which is that the national rules did not hold any bearing here.

In that case then, as SoCal VP, can you explain to me why they put red light camera's at harbor and chapman, and not harbor and bastanchury?

Cuz that's just about as related.
