np231 dust sheild???

So i am trying to replace the rear output shaft seal in my np231 but cant seem to get the shaft out of the housing. there is a shield on the shaft that is not allowing me to remove it. I can't seem to figure out how to get it off and replace the seal that blew yesterday. it is on a 97 xj. Any ideals????

Take a chisel a strike 3 or 4 places equally around the collar(parallel to the output shaft).Dont need to hit it real hard,just enough to expand the collar.
