Just cracked the exhaust manifold: what brand to buy?

Yup, the problem with all 4.0's just caught up to me yesterday, :headbanger:

My exhaust manifold just cracked at the center of two primaries so no way to weld it... I'm going to try that exhaust leak stuff on it so I can at least drive the sucker until the weekend without killing myself

1999 cherokee 4.0

Somebody recommend a good/ cheap exhaust: a link would be nice

not looking for performance as much as reliability, I've replaced one before in a 92 and I never want to do it again...

APN? Banks? Gibson? Borla? some eBay crap?

and I'll probably replace the factory "pizza pocket" crunched downpipe while I'm in there.... any recommendations on that piece?

thanks.

edit:
I read the apn thread
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=73552

looks like it's $130 + $20 shipping here
http://www.autopn.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=20009

thought? opinions? local availability... I want to try to get this done this weekend

I've had the APN header on my '96 for going on 2 years now w/Zero problems.

Fit, function, quality were/are all top notch... especially considering the price compared to 'comparable' headers.

Two thumbs up for the APN from me.

How are your engine mounts? Shot mounts are usually the cause.
If they're shot I suggest M.O.R.E.

I'd reccomend APN for the price

Brand new motor mounts as of last 2 months ago

anyone have feedback on the ebay one that looks like a crown auto one with the flex flanges?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200242607191
seems pretty durable with the flex pieces... and it's only $110 shipped.
Teraflex plus recommends the crown auto one for rigs that see a lot of trail time.

Wheres the flex pieces? Cant manage to see the pictures clear enough...

I helped a buddy put a banks on his 4.0 wrangler about a year ago. I dont know if I would spend that kind of money on it but it seems to be holding up fine...

Edit:
Completely forgot my old boss had the Borla setup on his. I must say that the exaust on that cherokee took one heck of a beating. He completely smashed the muffler on multiple rocks and nother ever cracked. Even all smashed up and "clearanced" It sounded great.

ive got the APN header, waited a long time to install one. had my exhaust guy weld a flex coupler in the front pipe, and I installed new motor and trans mounts.
no more cracks.

On this board, there has been at least one poorly machined APN header with a misdrilled bolt hole, and two that cracked at the Y collectors.

when the motor mounts are solid, pretty much any aftermarket part will last except a painted header, or a wrapped one.

I believe the flex pieces are on the primaries that go to the #1 and #6 cylinders

I put one of those Crown Manifolds with the flex coupler at the number s 1 and 6 cylinders into my '96 Grand. It fit very nicely and at around $190 not too bad on the wallet either.

I bet Gerr can get one for you.

You can also order that manifold (or another of it's "professional clones") for a lot less than 200 bucks. For less money, I went APN though. Pleased so far.
