brake caliper orientation

Getting ready to install my disc's off of a '92 Lincoln Town Car and just realized that the calipers are on opposite sides of the rotors. The drivers side is on the rear side of the rotor and the passanger side is on the front side of the rotor. Is there a difference in the two positions? Will it make a difference if I leave it like that, or should I just modify the backing plates a bit and the axle a bit to get them to be both on the rear side?

Fore & aft orientation doesn't matter, but be sure the bleeders are both at the highest point.
