transfer case has problems

problem is large large slack shifting from forward to reverse, and its in the transfer case. it also makes grinding noise on engine braking in 2wd. you can see it has run low on fluid before. chain is ok but ill replace it. what else is likely to be worn? it shifed fine (smoothly), but sometimes it delayed going from high range to 2wd.

Buy the kit, that gives you every thing you need.. I like to do it once and forget it...

theres a LOT of metal shavings here. also the plastic shift fork bushngs were mostly melted.
im thinking the gears on that look messed up what do you think

Chain and sprocket gears appear to be worn. Chain is also stretched. The metal shavings are from those 3 things and if the shift fork is partially melted then it is not completely engaging the teeth of the gears.
It needs a complete rebuild. Don't know ant other way to put it!!!
