1993 Cherokee Country Overhead Console

My overhead console in my 1993 Cherokee Country doesn't seem to be working. the digital display doesn't come on and the map lights are iffy at best. If I have the door open and press the map lights, nothing happens but as soon as I close the door they come on and if I open the door while they are on they will stay on until I turn them off. Also my keyless remote does not work, AutoZone has a tester for the remote itself to see if it works or not, but I'm pretty sure the sensor in the overhead console may not be working either. So pretty much, map lights pretty much, everything else, nada.
